Do3 Squad News and Strava Update - Do3 Athletes Tackle Snowdon and Run Squad Starts!

Strava Updates

In last weeks Strava league, Paul Nash took top spot with a huge 13:42hrs of training. After speaking to Paul it sounds like the vast majority of that training was done soaking wet as he was either swimming in a lake or riding in torrential rain! Great advert for Portuguese holidays! Paul's total included an impressive 10:16hrs of cycling for which he unsurprisingly took the run title too! Great work Paul – well done!

In the pool, Alan Coley Smith took top honours with a solid 4:42 of swim training. We all know that swimming pays if you put the time in, so we will expect to see Alan flying past everyone very soon no doubt!

Finally, Mel Tandy took the title on the running side of things with an amazing 5:44hrs of running. I have double checked and there are no walks to Bargain Booze in there – all running! In fact, not just running, running up and down mountains no less. More of that below.

Do3 Squad Continues To Grow

We now have over 74 active squad members and the Strava group is now also up to 41!! Please continue to spread the word as everyone benefits from being a member of a stronger squad. Thank you to everyone who has been saying good things about us – anyone who has been to swim squad lately will see that word is certainly getting round!

Race Reports

Do3 Squad members Tim Tandy, Mel Tandy, Sam Nicolson took on the epic Brooks Snowdonia Marathon ERYRI. Unsurprisingly, this event includes a huge 2400ft of climbing as the runners circumnavigate Mount Snowdon. All three runners did amazingly well with Sam coming home in 3:48:58, Tim in 4:17:17 and Mel in 5:00:29. Seriously good results given the unforgiving terrain (see below) – Well done guys.

Do3 Run Squad

Run Squad Starts THIS SATURDAY! Sessions are from 10am until 11am at Stratford High School Running Track.

The aim of run squad is to improve not only your running fitness but also your running technique too. In a similar way to swimming, targeting these two things combined will take you on the journey to faster, more efficient running. Run squad aims to be focused and specific. Sessions will be planned around YOU and your ability. Quality training, rather than a generic one-size-fits-all approach. To this end, Do3 Physio and running gait specialist Jonathan Davis will be taking some of the sessions with me and leading the muscle activation/warm-up. Jonathan will also be on-hand to offer ongoing advice to those that need it. Again, in a similar way to Swim Squad you will be benchmark tested. This will not only draw a line in the sand and be your 'starting point' but will also allow me to calculate training zones/paces for you. These will be sent to you following the session.

Run Squad Sessions can be booked via the Do3 app (link at the top of this page).

I think that's about it for this week. Hopefully see you poolside or trackside soon!
