Do3 squad turn up triathlon heat Warwickshire athlete competes at Turkey Ironman 70.3

Do3 squad member Paul Nash from Stratford Upon Avon concluded a mammoth Ironman 70.3 season racing by competing at Turkey Ironman 70.3 held in Belek on 15th October.

The race, a 1.9km swim, 90km bike and 21km run took place in a windy 31 degrees and saw Paul finish the race in 6:31. Part of Warwickshire's Do3 triathlon squad, Paul has competed at five middle distance events across Europe in 2017, including as an age group competitor at the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Chattanooga in September. His efforts have also helped to raise £1,500 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Paul comments; ‘The swim was a brutal non-wetsuit sea swim in the warm but choppy Mediterranean, before transitioning to a flat and fast bike course which saw a personal best for my bike split. The temperature during the run sapped your drive as you finished along a road with limited shade from the soaring heat. After a year racing with either mechanical or weather related challenges, it was nice to finish on a high both in terms of the racing and from the charity perspective too.  Roll on 2018 for more challenges in the next age category.’

Other Do3 squad members including Stephanie Cox and Ian Dickens took part in Birmingham’s inaugural Birmingham International Marathon with Tasha Chandler posting an impressive 3:58:18.

Do3’s head coach Dave Knight says, 'This is another great achievement for Paul and while many of the squad are resting and getting ready to start training for 2018, Paul continues to race with the objective of raising money for charity. He’s a great example of hard work and tenacity; skills that are required from triathletes.’

2017 has been a record year for Do3’s squad with triathlete Eloise du Luart turning professional and

Corinne Moss and Seanin McPherson racing at the ITU World Triathlon Grand Final in Rotterdam.

Do3 squad is coached and managed by Dave Knight, one of the UK’s leading triathlon coaches. The squad is made up of over 150 Midlands based athletes; from triathlon enthusiasts and age group competitors to professional athletes.
