Do3 racing round up - Weekend 5th and 6th May 2018

Do3 racing round up - Weekend 5th and 6th May 2018

Do3, the Midlands based triathlon squad, took advantage of the Bank Holiday weather by competing in local and international competitions.

SAC’s Joe Lee from Lower Quinton raced in the Clumber Park Duathlon; a 10km run, 40km bike and 5km run which he finished in 2:17.41.

Seanin Gilmore, from Stow on the Wold, represented Do3 and Ireland at the Vejle ETU Powerman Middle Distance Duathlon European Championships in Denmark. Racing against competitors from other nations she secured a time of 3:40 over the gruelling 10km run, 60km bike and 10km run. She was 4th overall in a highly competitive field.

At Tewkesbury Sprint Triathlon Alison Robbins was 4th in her age group and pipped Stephanie Cox and Tasha Redman over the line in a time of 1:21.45; an 18-minute improvement from 2017. Jason Robbins shaved 11 minutes from his 2017 time. Six of Do3’s athletes were in the female top 10 at Tewkesbury; Elaine Sherwin was the fastest of the squad having raced the 400m swim, 24km bike and 5km run in 1:15.25.

The Oldbury White Horse Triathlon saw Stratford on Avon’s Brown family race the sprint relay and secure a podium position with 2nd place.

AG athlete for France, Mel Knight, from Warwick, completed the New Forest Standard Triathlon in 2:27 to be the 13th female finisher over  the 1.1km swim, 33km bike and 9km run.

Alison Robbins comments, ‘These gains are without doubt down to structured quality training that Do3 instils in the squad. Our coach, Dave Knight, has given Jason and I an excellent foundation to get better and better and we can’t wait to see how we progress over this racing season’.

Do3 is mentored and managed by Dave Knight, one of the UK’s leading triathlon coaches and was recognised as Coach of the Year at Stratford District Council Sport Awards. The squad is made up of over 200 Midlands based athletes; from triathlon enthusiasts and age group competitors to professional athletes.
