Another world class weekend for Do3 - Weekend race roundup 12-13th May 2018
Do3’s athletes were on world-class form this weekend with qualifiers, wins and personal bests being achieved.
The squad was out in full force at events including Ironman 70.3 Pays D’Aix, Ironman Santa Rosa and Worcester Double Sprint Triathlon where Wellesbourne’s Peter Wharton finished the 1.5km swim, 60km bike, 10km run in 3.14:41 and bagged himself a PB swim.
At St Neots Standard Triathlon, an ITU Standard Distance Triathlon Qualifier, four of the squad raced the 1.5km swim, 45km bike and 10km run. The competition saw both Bishops Itchington’s Corinne Moss and Coventry’s Anita Howe come first in their age groups with a time of 2.15:28 and 2.18:44 respectively. The standard distance race was also completed by Richard Bell and Toni Senior who ran a PB 10km after the freezing swim and fast-paced bike. Both Moss and Howe secured themselves places in 2018/19 Standard Distance World Finals in Australia and Switzerland having finished in the top overall 20 female competitors.
Many of the other squad were in taper mode and attended a recce of the Outlaw Half Triathlon with coach David Knight. A dozen of the squad biked the 56m cycle route to prepare for the up-coming weekend of competitions across the UK.
Corinne Moss, comments, “I am thrilled at these results, after an arduous training schedule it’s brilliant to be back racing again. I’m also delighted for everyone else who raced this weekend and who has made massive gains over the winter. Without doubt it’s down to our coach who puts us through our paces to enable us to revel in such great outcomes. Thank you to Dave and, of course, my sponsors”.
Dave Knight, Head Coach, comments, “I am delighted for everyone that raced this weekend. Toni pulled in her best 10km, Richard is back on form after a shoulder injury and both Anita and Corinne excelled and secured places at the Worlds. These athletes are committed, and their hard work pays off with results like these. Congratulations to everyone who is flying the Do3 flag”.
Do3 is mentored and managed by Dave Knight, one of the UK’s leading triathlon coaches and was recognised as Coach of the Year at Stratford District Council Sport Awards. The squad is made up of over 200 Midlands based athletes; from triathlon enthusiasts and age group competitors to professional athletes.
