Do3 weekend round up - 20th – 21st July 2019

Members of Do3 stepped up their game this weekend by taking their race distances to the next level.

Kimberley Lee took on her first middle distance triathlon which was made up of a 1.9km swim, 90km bike and 21km run. Competing in the Immortal Half Farmoor in Oxford, she finished the race in 6:35:18 and was 4th in her age group. Andrew McLeish was in Switzerland and completed his first Ironman event, a long distance endurance race made up of a 3.8km swim, 180km bike and 40km run. He finished the event to earn the title Ironman in 14:34:09.

Carl James raced the standard distance Blithfield Triathlon and was 8th in his age group.  He posted a 27 minute swim over 1.5km, 1:11 bike over 40km and 47 minute 10km run.

Swimming was also on the cards with a dozen of the squad taking part in the Shakespeare Swim, a 2.5km open water event down the river Avon. On the south coast, Anita Howe was the first woman finisher at Swim The Bay, a 1.2 mile sea swim in Weymouth Bay.

Dave Knight, head coach comments, ‘Congratulations to Kim and to Andrew who ramped up their distances and completed major endurance races. Their hard work and significant training has clearly paid dividends and I’m delighted they’ve achieved their goals. Closer to home, The Shakespeare Swim is always a highlight in the Do3 calendar with more and more of the squad taking part in this local event. The squad all posted brilliant times, largely thanks to our sponsors Everyone Active who we hold regular swim squad sessions with and to Yonda for fantastic wetsuits’.

Do3 is mentored and managed by award winning coach Dave Knight and is made up of over 200 Midlands-based athletes; from triathlon enthusiasts and international age group competitors to professional athletes. Squad members are given access to a dedicated app that manages swim and run sessions, contains up coming events, leader boards, rewards and special offers.
