It was a weekend for personal bests as Do3’s squad of triathletes raced across the country.
At sprint distance, a 750m swim, 20km bike and 5km run; Oscar Metcalf competed in the London Triathlon. One of the biggest events on the scene, he finished in 1:17:19 posting a personal best by more than 3 minutes over the sprint distance.
Alison and Jason Robbins competed at standard distance by racing at the Morson Salford Triathlon. Made up of a 1500m swim, 40km bike and 10km, run they completed the course in times of 2:58:20 and 3:07:22 respectively and Alison placed 7th in her age group.
Marcus Gaskell took part in the full distance Outlaw Triathlon centred around the National Sports Centre. The endurance event was blighted by torrential rain which meant the 180km cycle stage was cancelled. Despite this, he completed the 3.8km swim in 1:09:01 and the marathon in 3:34:05 and was 5th overall in his age group.
Closer to home, Do3’s coaches set the bar for the squad at The Great Shakespeare Ride achieving 1st lady and 1st man over the 100km distance. They completed the route through the north Cotswolds in 3:18:00 and 3:18:08.
Dave Knight, head coach, comments, “It’s been another weekend of the squad breaking personal bests and competing in gruelling conditions. Both the Salford and Outlaw Triathlons were blighted by horrendous wet conditions which added another dynamic to the races. Despite the deluges, it’s been another fantastic weekend with more to come as we gear up for Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Nice.”
