DO3 TRAINING CAMPS

 

St. Moritz, Switzerland

Sunday 25th June to Sunday 2nd July 2017 (6 training days)

*Also possibly 2nd July to 9th July depending on demand

We are excited to announce that our next Triathlon Training Camp will take place in the awe-inspiring alpine resort of St. Moritz, Switzerland. 

Famous for its winter sports, in the summer St. Moritz transforms into a multi-sport Mecca and becomes the ultimate triathlon training venue. Situated at an altitude of over 5900ft St. Moritz is a well known training venue for athletes looking to get the additional gains in performance that training altitude training can provide. Simply living at this altitude is said to have a similar impact to light training! 

 

The Training Venues

Swimming sessions will take place in the beautiful Ovaverva pool and spa. Post workout, you can recover while taking in the alpine views from the outdoor spa pool.

Bike sessions will take place on the roads in and around St. Moritz. Road surfaces are very good and the views are incredible. Plenty of mountain passes to climb (and descend!) as well as flats to stretch the legs and admire the views. Even the bike hill reps session will be a pleasure as it is done on the Olympic bobsleigh course!

Run sessions - we have the choice of either running around some of the regions alpine lakes or trails, or on the world class running track right in the heart of St. Moritz.

The Schedule

The camp schedule will vary from day-to-day and will be flexible but in general, the day will start with a swim session of around an hour. It will then be time to refuel with breakfast before preparing to head out for the next training session.  On most days there will be a bike ride. The rides will vary in length and terrain, each with a specific training focus.  There will also be run sessions on most days. Again, each run session will have a specific aim (even if that is just a gentle social/recovery run following the bike).  

The overall feel of the camp will be informal and relaxed (sessions will start on time however, so be warned!).  Athletes are free to choose whether they attend all training sessions - there is no pressure from the coach, it is up to you! Between training sessions, your time will be your own to rest, recover and explore!

The Costs and What's Included

Camp Fee £699 per person.

  • Transfers from/to St. Moritz train station
  • Accommodation* and breakfast 
  • Week pass for use of Ovaverva pool complex
  • All coached sessions (and use of track etc)

*Costs are based on two people sharing a double room. If you would prefer single occupancy this can be arranged for an additional £100

Accommodation and Meals

St. Moritz is a very well known and 'premium' resort. As such, standard hotel accommodation can be very expensive, with a weeks stay easily costing over £1000. In order to make things more affordable and keep camp costs down, we will be staying in 'The Staff House' attached to the Giardino Mountain Hotel. As the name suggests, this accommodation is where hotel staff stay during the busy summer period. Historically, this accommodation has regularly been used by visiting athletes during their altitude training phases. Rooms are clean, well maintained and have their own bathrooms and Wifi.  

The training camp includes bed and breakfast. On most days there will be time for a leisurely buffet breakfast which will be taken in the neighboring Hotel Sonne. In the evenings, there are plenty of great restaurants to choose from. Alternatively, you can prepare your own food in the staff house kitchen.

 

The Awe-Inspiring Journey to St. Moritz!

The train journey to St. Moritz is a treat in itself. At Chur station you will need to take the world famous 'Glacier Express' (click here for wikipedia link). As the name suggests, this train will take you up through the mountains and eventually on to St. Moritz. On its way up the train passes over and through hundreds of bridges and tunnels including the incredible Lanwasser Viaduct (Wiki Link) which carries you over a 200ft drop to the valley below.

Booking

On a Desktop Computer: Below you should see a form generated by the Do3 Booking system. Scroll down the page and click 'Sign Up Now!' Then follow the prompts to complete your details and pay your deposit.  Once the deposit is paid, your place on the camp is secure and you will receive confirmation emails. 

On a Mobile Device: Simply download the Do3 App (click here for Apple or Android). Once you have filled in your details, use the booking menu and navigate to Training Camps > St. Moritz Triathlon Training Camp. Once there you can book and pay your deposit to secure your spot. 

The remaining balance for the camp will be due no later than 1st May 2017 but we will send you a reminder email about this. 

Please Note: Camp deposits are non-refundable as Do3 will have incurred costs associated with setting up your stay (accommodation etc).

 

Other Information.....

Travel Arrangements: You will need to arrange your own transportation to St. Moritz. Unless you choose to drive, this journey will include a flight (usually to Zurich) and then two trains. We will send you all the details you need to allow you to book and plan your travel appropriately. Less experienced traveller? - despite the plane/train nature of the journey, it is still relatively straightforward so please don't worry about this. 

Final Itinery: Around 6 weeks before the camp, we will send you a document containing all the information you will need to get the most out of your trip.
